Chamomile

Mothers will make a weak infusion for colicky babies as chamomile is known for its soothing properties. To make an infusion add 2 to 3 teaspoons of chamomile flowers per cup and allow them to steep for up to 20 minutes.

Garlic

Raw garlic is a world-wide favorite used in foods to greatly enhance its taste. But did you know that raw garlic is also a very powerful and natural antibiotic that makes a great addition to your winter medicine cabinet? Upon the first signs of a cold or flu, many people will simply chew on fresh raw cloves or even use it to steep macerated garlic in a cup of cool water for up to six hours. It helps reduce bad cholesterol levels as well and its anti viral qualities shorten the duration of the flu.

Ginseng

Ginseng has long been used to increase stamina, raise energy levels, increase metabolism and improves blood circulation. It's a very warming beverage and has been taken for millennia to increase the libido.

Goldenseal

Goldenseal is probably best known for its antibiotic properties and its ability to seemingly "boost" the effectiveness of other herbs it's paired with. As a result, goldenseal is often taken with Echinacea. To make an infusion add one-half to 1 teaspoon of powdered goldenseal root to barely boiling water and allow this to steep for ten minutes. Goldenseal can also be found and taken in tincture form.

Ginger

Ginger is another warming or soothing drink that is widely used to treat motion sickness and helps calm an upset stomach. For motion sickness it's best to take the ginger infusion least 30 minutes before embarking on your journey. Simply add 2 teaspoons of grated or powdered ginger per cup of hot water and allow to it steep for 10 minutes.
