A lot of people buy used cars on a day to day basis. Although a lot of people have started shifting their own vehicles in places such as auctions and magazines the mass amount of sales still belongs to the good old used car salesmen. The job of these people are too buy a car for a small amount and sell it for a higher amount, or if they are also mechanics, they buy cars that need a bit of work doing fix them and sell them on.

But do garage owners actually care about what they are selling or are they just in it to make a quick buck? Let's take a quick look at some explanations and my personal view.

I recently purchased a used vehicle myself from a garage; I decided to stop buying really cheap ones as they always ended up breaking on me and it cost me a fortune to keep placing them into the garage week after week. So I went for one that was slightly pricier, we've all heard of the saying that you get what you pay for. So I was pretty excited at the thought of not visiting the garage repairers again.

I thoroughly checked over the vehicle and it looked fine, I drove it for a few days then every thing started going wrong with it. In the two months I had the vehicle I spent a fortune fixing it again. One of the reasons I purchased this car was because of the garage owners talk, they made it sound like the car was in perfect working order and they did not care how they sold the car they just wanted to get rid of it.

Therefore I have really been put off buying used cars unless I take a fully qualified mechanic with me. It just goes to show you that no matter how much you spend on a vehicle the salesmen cannot be trusted. Ok I may be going a bit over the top here, there are probably some really nice salesmen around, but I have yet to come across them.

It would be better off to just stick to buying new cars, this way they will be covered by warranty so if they do break you can get them fixed with no charge. Used car salesmen should take note because if you look after a customer they will come back to you again and again and also refer you to friends or family.
